    taxes

    Hi,

I am thinking about accepting an assignment in California....how bad are the tax deductions there (approximate amount)? Also, for anyone who has worked there recently....are the laws for patient ratios actually followed?

    Re: taxes

I am currently on assignment in San Diego, at a Kaiser facility, and the state-mandated ratios are definitely followed at the hospital where I am working.

For taxes, I am married, and I have approx. 25% of my pay deducted in federal & state taxes. Not sure how that would work for someone who is a Canadian resident, though....

    Re: taxes

My tax advisor asked me not too work in California again, only halfway joking. I guess it is a nightmare for the tax people. There is much more to their tax forms/laws. But I don't think I paid out much more tax wise than I do in Iowa. And yes, I plan on working in CA again.
