Stanford University Medical Center

I just accepted an assignment at Stanford. Does anyone have any comments/opinions about this facility? My recruiter told me that this is a really good hospital and that travelers love it there. I am going to be working on their new transplant unit - only 6 beds !!! Thanks !

Re: Stanford University Medical Center

I work here right now and I extended. I came in November and will leave in June. It is a great facility with unbelieveable help and staffing. That unit though is new and I don't think has alot of travelers-So just meet alot of people at your orientation. Also the bay area is amazing....I am in the ICU but if you get bored or lonely email me... madedeo@uwalumni.com

Re: Stanford University Medical Center

where have you been to not know about stanford? it's only one of the top three teaching facilities in the country and one of the best universities in the world. places like that can pick and choose in an era of massive nursing shortages and still get what they want. consider it an honor that they choose you. the pay might not be what you want but teaching facilities, especially the nations best, don't have to pay well because nurses generally vie for positions with them. i'll be going to stanford in august.

Re: Stanford University Medical Center

First of all, congratulations on getting an assignment at Stanford. I'm just finishing up an assignment there in an outpatient setting. It is a wonderful hospital to work for. As a traveler I've never gotten as much orientation as Stanford gave. They do have high expectations from there travelers, but prepare you well for it. You won't have a problem meeting other travelers to hang out with. Even if your unit doesn't have many, you'll meet quite a few in the week orientation they give you. Congratulations again and best of luck in your travelers.
