Hi! Has anyone done any travel nursing in St. Thomas or St. Croix recently? Considering going there on a first assignment. Any advice as to what agency to use and what it was like there (housing, work, etc.) would be greatly appreciated!

Re: St. Thomas travel DON'T GO THERE! Dangerous and lousy pay/high cost of living. Go down for vacation, not a travel assignment! And do not travel with TRUSTAFF, CROSS COUNTRY, OR ANY AMERICAN MOBILE COMPANY! You will get treated badly and make the worst money in the biz!

Re: St. Thomas travel Don't do it! My girlfriend and I worked ICU last summer on St. Thomas. We loved the beauty of the island, but we absolutely dreaded work. We were happy to get off the island alive. You won't make any money. It's a break even assignment if you're lucky. Don't let the recruiters talk you into it. They all know how bad it is down there. It was only our second assignment, but we have learned a lot since then. If you want to go to paradise, take 10 days to a month off and go on vacation. Stay on the mainland if you want to make $$$$. California is the best we've found so far. High housing stipend, time and a half after 8hrs and double time after 12 hrs! Hope this helps! Best of luck to ya.
