SAn Diego

Hi, Was considering getting out of the heat of AZ.. Was wondering if anyone could give me some hospital advice in San Diego in the ICU/CCU areas...preferably not one of the huge facilities.

Thank you

Can't help you out with that info but was wondering if you considered doing some travel assignments there to scope things out?

Re: SAn Diego

I worked in the ER at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego as a traveler a little over a year ago. I extended, and stayed for 6 months. What specific questions do you have?

Just on what hospitals to avoid....theres alwyas the ones you hear about not to work at...I would like to avoid them if I know before hand. If someone had a good experience in SD or bad.

Don't know much about the ICU's, as I work ER, but I really didn't hear bad things about any of the hospitals in San Diego. I did hear wonderful things about Palomar Hospital in Escondido & Pomerado hospital in Poway- both North of San Diego. I have also hears that Scripps in La Jolla is a great place to work, as well as UCSD. The hospitals South of Downtown tend to be a little rougher, in that the neighborhoods are not as great, so I would try to stay north of Downtown.

Re: SAn Diego

I worked as a traveler at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla (not the same as Scripps La Jolla). It is a smaller hospital with only an urgent care, a big cardiac hospital. The ICU/CCU has a lot of cardiac patients with other typical ICU patients mixed in. I did two separate 6 month stays there and loved it more than any other hospital Ive worked at. The people there are so friendly, caring, and treat all travelers equally. Ive never met a traveler who didnt love it there. The hospital sits right on the ocean and I used to watch the sunset in the ocean through my patients room. If I didnt miss the east coast so much and my family, i definetly would have signed on as staff!!

Re: SAn Diego

Anything in the Scripps System is pretty good. A good area to live if you are single is the UTC area of La Jolla. I lived there for 2 years and it was lots of fun and very close to work!
