new orleans

Hi, I am wanting to go work in New Orleans for 2-3 days/week in a row and do not know if I should use travel nurse company or deal with hospitals directly. Any suggestions on this and what hospitals are the best to work in? I am an ICU/SICU and open heart recovery RN of 24 years living 2 hours away in Alabama. My ideal work situation would be to travel over, work 2-3 days and come home for 4-5 days to spend with my family. I would like to make as much as possible and could stay in hotels vs. apartments to pocket more stipend $$$ HELP

Re: new orleans

If you go with a travel company, you can take the housing stipend instead of housing and that will boost your income.

Call a travel company and see what they are paying hourly for your specialty. Not sure how to find out what the hospital pay or if they will guarantee hours. Travel companies guarantee hours.

Did you have a company in mind? I'm with RN NETWORK. Private Message me for my recruiter and phone #.

Re: new orleans

Hello I am currently a Staff RN in one of the Largest hospitals in the South (Ochsner health System). I work in CCU at the main campus. Like everywhere there are +'s and -'s. Every traveler that comes to us loves it. I personally think we are great for travelers. As a staff RN Ochsner is known for not paying the best. If you came here I would say go with an agency. CCU is a 32bed unit with 16beds being critical care and 16 being step down. we get everything. balloon pumps, crrt, vents, swans/pa....etc etc on a daily/nightly basis. our ICU is a 32 bed all critical care unit! I am leaving in June to take a travel assign. in San Diego. Let me know if you have any questions about Hospitals here.
