new bern Has anyone worked in New Bern, N.C. on med/surg or neuro floor? Wondering what the ratios are like and if your experience was good. Any input would be much appreciated.

Hello well I have not worked in new bern but I have my clinical rotations twice in new bern on a med/surg floor. I can tell you it is a small hospital, did not really like it it did not seem safe. They offered the students 15,000 sign on bonus to stay with them for 2 years. I know 2 students who took the money and then decided it would just benefit them better to pay the money back rather than to stay there. For me I did not like the hospital because of the size and the environment it seemed too cluttered but you may have a different experience there and just love it. Also the pay was a joke that is why the sign on was so high. Hope this helps.

I just finished up in New Bern, loved it. I worked on a seasonal overflow unit that was only open for 3 months. Many of the charge nurses were from neuro-med and they were wonderful. The unit manager for neuro-med is named Sandra, she is also great. The only reason that I did not extend was because administration did not give her the o-kay to hire anyone until after I had already made plans to take this assignment. I can not wait to finish this one so I can go back. Becky and Marie are wonderful to work with. It's busy and hard work but they work as a team and you are part of the team. :houra: :houra: :houra:
