Re: advice on insurance while doing travel nursing

I wouldn't work for Aureus. But that's my own opinion. They cold call nurses at work looking for travelers and when you tell them not to call they continue any way..

You will need to research the insurance issue with every company you consider. They are all different.

Re: advice on new traveler

I haven't worked in a hospital for the last 4 years. Well actually I am working in a hospital at the present time... But I don't float. I never work Sundays. I am working 1100-21-30 four days a week.. I have never made less than $35 with all my bennies. I do only hemodialysis now.. I have never worked at UCSF..

I just wouldn't work for Aureus.. You can do better.. They cold call travel nurses while they are working.. Do you understand that that is unacceptable...

I've never worked in LA or SF but have been offered 35 for both places.. You have to be tough in this business.. You are the paychek for yourself and the travel company.. Never forget that and use it to your advantage. This is a very competitive business. When I don't get what I want I just tell them to sit.. Let 'em sit.. You can pay me now or you can pay me later..Later usually costs more..lol

Re: advice on new traveler

A cold call.. Like a broker calling you out of the blue with a great deal..Too good to be true... In other words they are calling hospitals and asking to speak with the "traveler" and trying to recruit them..My kids weren't allowed to call me at work unless they had already called the police first.. In other words it had to be a true emergency.

If you are trying to "relocate" to SF or LA I assume that you mean move there not a travel assignment. In that case why would you pay an agency to find you a job. If it's a travel assignment you are gonna have to do your homework just like the rest of us have.. You have to make up your mind what you want and figure out how to get it.

Thanks Shortbus for your opinion! I promise if I do end up signing up with them I won't hit up this website and others as an affiliate, and if I do I will do it appropriately.

Re: Need Advice..New Traveler

LOL!!! No wolf here! LOL!! It's just my melancholy personality. I'm the type of person that is detail oriented and needs to know the details before proceeding further. That was funny though....

So you know, I'm just looking to make the most money I can make and so far they paid the most money of any I have talked to. Not greedy or anything, but the only reason I'm traveling is to make BIG BUCKS!! I sure don't want to have any tax problems and I'm not too savvy when it comes to those types of things. I just don't pass up a job that pays the most without checking it out better. Did you work for them and have problems??? If you got the information from someone else that worked for them, I'd like to email them to so I can get first hand knowledge...What part of it is bad so I can ask specifically about that part.

I know about "seasoned" nurses eating their young - and it can be PAINFUL!! - but I learned the most about nursing from those types of nurses taking me under their wing!! I'm just looking for a little more help to save me pain...

thanks wandering!
