Methodist Hosp, Sacramento CA Information

Please Help!
I am considering a 1st time travel assignment to Methodist Hospital in Sacramento CA. I would appreciate hearing from all with input regarding the hospital, how travelers are rec'd and the general location.

thanks in advance

I worked at Methodist exactly a year ago this time. I first worked on Tele, but got pulled to ICU and ER alot. I extended for 13 more weeks in ICU and did that and ER. When I was there the critical care manager was over ICU and ER so I worked both. If I had to choose where I would work it would definately be either in ICU or ER. They are a fun bunch of people and treat travelers very well. Of course, be prepared to float first, thats just how it is. When you do start, tell them Sheila said Hey!!!! I miss them so much and maybe one day I'll be back to stay.

Re: Methodist Hosp, Sacramento CA Information

I've worked local agency there this past fall. I was on the tele unit and the med/surg unit.

I recieved no orientation at all, when asked it was a traveler who showed me briefly where stuff was. They count thier narcs the old fashion way...no pyxis.

I refuse to go back to the med/surg unit. Again a traveler showed me briefly where stuff was. I had a patient on each corner of the unit and they wanted to put my 2nd admit who was on neutropeanic (sp) precautions in with another pt...I have no orientation at all. I was charting and excused myself when i interupted the regular staff sitting at the table at the nurses station, they were speaking in thier home language, and asked where in the chart a certain form went, they stopped talking and looked at me then resumed talking amongst themselves, I again spoke up and a male nurse gave them a strange looka nd told me where the form went. The traveler that was on day shift, had told me that group was not "friendly". Needless to say I have not returned. The charge was no help either.
