| I am writing this as a warning to anybody planning on an assignment with Medstaff, Inc... I took my first assignment in VT with them and it was a terrrible experience. They lie, will tell you anything you want to hear and not follow through, and will deduct money from your paycheck for their own purposes!! They kept telling me "don't worry about the housing" and then 2 weeks before my assignment started they told me because I had a dog there was only one choice of an apartment. When I arrived to VT is was not really an apartment--it was part of someone's private home that they put up a wall and called it an apartment! It was far from the hospital, I had no couch, and there was no separate heating in the apartment, I had to knock on the people's door and ask them to adjust the heating every time I wanted it to go up or down. It only got worse. Numerous travellers on my unit with other companies were staying in beautiful apartments, with pets. I told Medstaff that I was moving and refused to stay in the apartment, and they told me flat out NO, they would not pay for the nice apartment where other travellers were staying because it was too expensive. They said they had already paid the landlord for 3 months and I would have to pay them back if I moved. I put up with it--the landlords were crazy and obsessively knocked on my door and gave me a hard time the whole 3 months-- they refused to move the dirty old furniture so I could rent new furniture--they said my dog walking around was too loud on the wood floors--they were horrible. The whole time my recruiter kissed up to me and told me what i wanted to hear. When I moved out at the end of the assignment, I knew the crazy landlords would try to charge outrageous charges so I took a bunch of pictures and Medstaff promised me they knew the landords were crazy so don't worry about it, etc. One month later Medstaff sent me a bill for $1000 in damages... from $200 to steam clean some old chair that I never once sat in... to $75 for cleaning out the inside of a closet I hung my clothes in. I refused to pay and they finally told me, "look, we know these charges are bogus but we just need some money from you to cover our losses". Long story, they ended up STEALING $200 from my paycheck... it would have cost more to take them to small claims court than that. I desperately tried to recover my hard earned money all the way up to the VP of Recruiters, and they all just lied and tried to suck every penny from me that they possibly could... I spent so much time and enery, and money, trying to fight them and it was so ridiculous. DO NOT take an assignment with them... they should be shut down. |

| I've been a travel nurse for 6 years with over a dozen assignments under my belt. A few weeks ago I happened across this agency (Medstaff) for a specific job in New York City for which I wanted consideration. I am always very patient, polite, professional, and conscientious when conducting any type of business. But a particular recruiter with this agency pushed my frustration threshhold to its limit. Not only did this recruiter ooze out misinformation, she was also condescending, patronizing, pessimistic, and presumptuous. After 4 days of correspondence with this irritating lady (imagine talking with Roseanne... uuugh) and finding out that the job I wanted consideration for had already been filled, I was forced to become firm and abrasive in expressing my dissatisfaction of her work ethic. Be advised that all I was hoping for was for my profile to be sent to the employer for consideration. This particular recruiter wasn't even able to do that. I'm a seasoned traveler who's well aware of what is needed to initiate the process of aquiring an assignment. I'm also well prepared and go to extra lengths to make it easy and smooth for my recruiter, but this particular recruiter's amazing incompetence and lazyness led to my unemployed status. As a travel nurse, I pride myself in being pleasant, professional, knowledgable, and diligent through the duration of my assignment. Is it too much to ask that the representatives of my agency display the same qualities towards their clients? |
