I\'ll Never be a Staff RN Again! I'm on my very first travel contract and am thoroughly happy with it. I will NEVER do staff nursing again! Oh, the joy of missing those mandatory unit meetings! Ha! Not to mention the petty unit in-fighting...I keep myself apart...I don't have to get involved. I'm not on staff and what they do is their thing. I'm just here to do my contract, get paid, and either stay or move on.....so I don't have all the negatives. I have my own place provided, no utility bills...what more could you ask for? I'm lovin' it. I'll never be on staff anywhere again! Let's face it: if you're on staff you're going to get crapped on again and again, until you get fed up and get out. Contract nursing is the wave of the future.

Re: I\'ll Never be a Staff RN Again! i to enjoy travel instead of staff nurse however i enjoy getting to know the staff i work with. no staff meetings are nice and the politics of the unit are good to miss but the friendships i have acquired will last for a long time. my suggestion for each assignment is to get to know the workers as people and enjoy the sights of the place you are living and have a great time doing it. sharon-o

Re: I\'ll Never be a Staff RN Again! I agree. I worked as staff for 14 years. I have traveled for 4 years. I wish I had started traveling sooner.. If I don't like where I am working, I can just move on... no hurt feelings....

Re: I\'ll Never be a Staff RN Again! Good for you! I traveled for almost 3 years and loved every min. of it. Now I get to use my 25 years of nursing and travel exp. to recruit other nurses to travel. Something to keep in mind at some later date....NOT recruiting HERE though! Not at all. Enjoy every min. I agree there are so many benefits to traveling.

Re: I\'ll Never be a Staff RN Again! I think that if you pick a company that is smaller, has the job you want, etc. there should be no problem. And if there is the assignment is only for 8-13 weeks, no biggie...hope you get traveling soon.

Re: I\'ll Never be a Staff RN Again! samcl, Don't worry too much about who you choose. You should talk to all the recruiters and see who you have a connection with and if they have the type (and place) of assignment you want, then go for it! You won't be disappointed! I have enjoyed all of my travel. One suggestion though, sometimes more money means more headache, but not always... Use your judgement. Send me an email if you still need more advice and I will get you in contact with someone I know and trust whole-heartedly. Cheers --Ap-iv
