Red face I am almost ready to travel

I have worked in the Hospitals for about three years now and I am a newly licensed RN. (6 months) I currently work in a Post Cardiac interventional unit that functions as a post procedure in patient unit for the Cath lab/IR folks. it also functions as a telemetry/PCU/step down unit. I would like to start travelling soon but would like to know if one year in a unit like mine will be sufficient. I have gotten my ACLS cert. I have to function independently and do so with no relative difficulty. I don't want to jump into anything to suddenly and have been in contact with American Mobile, Medsource staffing, and RN network. they all sound like great companies and also have some skeletons in their respective closets. I do have a couple of questions re: companies/locales.
I will be travelling with my wife and daughters, I wanted to know about family friendly locations
I would like to work in the cardiac units and would like to know which hospitals would be better for the field i have chosen.
i suppose I don't want to set out to travel with my family and then realize we have done something we shouldn't have.
Please help
we are sick of the cold of the frozen alaskan north.

Re: I am almost ready to travel

I would say you need at LEAST 1-2 years experience in your specialty as an RN. Hospitals will not consider LPN, CNA, or Tech experience, they look at RN experience. As a traveler, you will be expected to hit the ground running with sometimes only 1-2 days of orientation. If you are not absolutely confident that you can handle that, then you should wait to get more experience before traveling.
