I'm not too sure on how hard it is to obtain a Florida license, but here is the contact information: Florida Board of Nursing Mailing Address: 4052 Bald Cypress Way, BIN C02 Tallahassee, FL 32399-3252 Physical Address: 4042 Bald Cypress Way Room 120 Tallahassee, FL 32399 Phone: 850.245.4125 Fax: 850.245.4172 Online: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/ Contact Person: Rick García, MS, RN, CCM, Executive Director I would say to start as soon as you can to avoid any problems, especially as you have a permenant address right now. Also, Florida requires Continuing Education.....FYI. 'Cat'

Re: how hard is it.......... I got my FL license in 1999 and things have changed since then, I have heard that they are very slow, applications tend to sit on someones desk. You have to get fingerprinted and they require CEUs of which some have to be of Domestic Violence (there is a lot there) and HIV (a lot of this too even among the geriatrics) and I think one more thing that I can't remember right now. The BON had moved from Jacksonville to Tallihassee a few years ago, so maybe they have improved...If you plan on going next spring do start the process now and keep in mind that pay is low there low $20s and teens in a lot of areas.

Re: how hard is it.......... I recently applied for my Florida license, and their board of nursing web site states that it takes about 30 days to get your temporary license issued. You'll have to call them to request a fingerprint card, otherwise you can print all the other forms from their website.

Re: how hard is it.......... Very slow! You can request the application and fingerprint card online - both must be requested separately. Since it's required I don't know why they don't just include the card with the application. If you have ever been arrested and/or charged with anything other than a misdemeanor or have any disciplanary history it will take 3 months or more. Start now!!
