There are so many travel agencies out there these days but it is getting harder and harder to find one that is truly an advocate for the nurse. I just want to inform all the nurses out there that I traveled for the first time and the company, AMERICAN TRAVELER, was horrible to say the least!! A.T. is initially nice and offers are appealing but they have no concept of competency nor professionalism. The entire staff are inadequate. I spoke with several concurrent employees with them and we all agreed on one thing: staff stink!! I had a needle stick incident and they didn't care at all. In fact, their insurance coverage that they had didn't cover anything per the state statue so A.T pretty much said too bad. Too bad?! You don't do that to one of your employees. And you definitely don't have them pay OUT-OF-POCKET for an injury while they were WORKING FOR YOU and MAKING YOU MONEY!! So needless to say stay away from this so-called, pathetic of a company American Traveler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a personal problem and not an agency issue. You should have read the provisions of the health plan/policy before you signed on the dotted line. I'll assume you were seen and treated at the facility where your injury occurred? Review their practice standards for needle sticks; if you are required by hospital policy to be seen and treated for such injuries, the facility should have to bear the expenses. A call to an attorney could help you iron any wrinkles that the hospital can make.
