HCA/Health One, Crooks and thieves! I would like to hear anybodies experiences with HCA/Health One as an organization. I am just trying to finish up a contract with one of their hospitals, and it couldn't end soon enough. I feel this organization is full of crooks. Anyone elses opinions?

Re: HCA/Health One, Crooks and thieves! I just got cancelled at an HCA hospital. I had 6 weeks left to go on my contract. The manager gave me a 2 week notice last Thursday. I got a phone call 2 hours before I left for work today that I am completely cancelled and they don't even need me to finish my 2 weeks. I have 48 hours to be out of my house. HCA put "personal reasons" as the reason for terminating the contract, therefore my agency NIP is keeping my last paycheck. hmmmm crooks and thieves to put it mildly. AllAboutStaffing is their own company and they are out phasing the travellers with their own agency with lower pay. My heart is with you until the end of your contract. Jen

Re: HCA/Health One, Crooks and thieves! I agree...I worked at an HCA facility in Las Vegas and my initial impression was MONEY-HUNGRY. They even had their CFO come and present to us at orientation...to a bunch of nurses. Yes, we realize that healthcare is a business, but to shove it in our faces was a bit overdone in my opinion. He even said, "my only job in this place is to make money, money, MONEY." Oh, and cheap.

Re: HCA/Health One, Crooks and thieves! TextI am so sorry to hear about your experience. It looks to me like your agency owes you more of an explanation. Nurses are the travel industry! We are needed and with the shortage of nurses as well as the new nurse patient ratios in Calif we will continue to be needed. I feel things must change. Yes, if for some reason something happens and we are ill or unable to work we have no protection. I only hope these agencies will start to listen. This business is very competative, too many agencies need good travelers. This website and others provide a good service...and believe me the word on does get around. Good luck to you

Re: HCA/Health One, Crooks and thieves! Some of you may not have been in the profession back in the 90's but do an internet search to learn more about HCA. The were under investigation by the FBI regarding their hospital procurement practices....that was the story going around. I did read that they had to pay the gov lots of money.

Re: HCA/Health One, Crooks and thieves! I am currently working at an HCA hospital in Florida, and I too was contracted through Allaboutstaffing as a third party. I can't wait for my contract to end as well. The nurse to patient ratios are 8 and 9. They cram three patients into the same room (nice infection control topic), and mind you, the rooms are the typical semi-private size. I will never work at an HCA hospital again. They are still under investigation for the next few years. The patients are NOT first, it's all about the numbers $$$.
