Wink *Getting Ready to travel* - Need Advice

I have been an RN for two years now, done all the research and have applied for several travel jobs. I have experience for 2 years on a Pediatric and Med Surg floor, also a little Home Health experience. Please I am ready for advice from nurse travelers. I know the economy is not at all what is was and there aren't as many jobs out there, whats the chances of being able to find the jobs and stay busy in this economy with my background. I do have ACLS, PALS, BLS and telemetry certifications. I am actually pretty comfortable at the hospital I am at, but I worry about its future due to staffing cuts, etc. I know my job is secure and I am nervous about starting out as a traveler and not finding jobs. What type of pay rate should I expect? I know its not as high as it used to be. Any type of advice as far as which agencies to work for, which to steer clear of any advice is greatly appreciated. Im new to the site, but have spent hours reading other posts gaining knowledge about this field. I am very excited about doing this move. To be a traveling nurse was my ultimate goal when I enrolled in college and now I am scared I am coming along at a shaky time for traveling nursing.

Re: *Getting Ready to travel* - Need Advice

I would check the job listings of a few travel companies on line and this will give you an idea of what is available. Also, call a few recruiters and start applying to a few companies.
Consider Cross Country, RNNetwork, Cirrus, Clinical One, Medical Solutions. It's good that you have Peds and med surg.
If you want a recruiter from these companies then send me a Private Message.
Hope this helps
