Hi! I am looking to travel with my fiance (then husband) when he gets out of the marine corps for a few months. We want to go somewhere fun (that we probably wouldn't ever visit), but that also pays pretty good. I am a tele RN...any ideas?

Re: Fun place/good pay I was in Palm Springs for 9 months and had a blast. There were tons of travelers and we all bonded instantly. I've heard D.C. is great and the Sarasota, FL area. I worked with a nurse who traveled to Alaska and said it was the experience of a lifetime. On the flip side, I've heard Las Vegas is a nightmare and I've not heard too many good things about Hawaii. I think as long as the hospital is travel friendly and it's close to a big city, it would be fun.

Re: Fun place/good pay Not that anyone would think of Connecticut as a "fun" place, but just FYI. The pay is quite good here (I live here), but there is very little to do unless you consider proximity to NY and Boston an asset. I grew up in Massachusetts and Boston is a great city. I lived in Florida for 8 years and have to say by far Florida strikes me as a place where, considering the cost of living, you can make a decent pay and have all sorts of beautiful places right nearby. Have you thought about Key West? That's a really neat place and beautiful, too. Have never been to California but have known travelers who have absolutely loved it there. Good luck.

Re: Fun place/good pay That Alaska being the experience of a lifetime surprises me a little. I am sure they pay well but I thought it was because it was so hard to get Nurses there. I was thinking about the east coast but might look into that.

Have you ever considered the USVI ? Sun and sand and no passport required because it's ours! Best of luck for a wonderful experience.

Re: Fun place/good pay For you who wrote about Palm Springs could you give a little more detail? What hospital, housing, company, and what were you earning? Thanks!
