Feeling guilty, husband and kid at home

Hi, I'm starting my first travel assignment out of necessity, getting called off all the time with my per diem local job, and closest hospital has a hiring freeze. My husband and 17 yr old son seem to be fine with the 13 week assignment as it is only 200 miles from home, and I should be able to get home a couple of times. Any advice on how to stay a part of the family while traveling? Thanks, Cathy

Try to work 3 days straight and get 4 off and go home and or have them visit you. otherwise, keep in touch by phone and email.
It will be a change for you but make it work, travel is a great option to keep an income. be positive

Re: Feeling guilty, husband and kid at home

I have a husband and a 5 year old that stay home while I travel. I get a blocked scheldule, and then go home for 4 days after i do my 3 12's. I go withen 5 hours of home, currently 230 miles and 4 hours drive. It works fine for us, because when i was a staff nurse I worked nights and my husband works days, my son is in school..so I didn't see them the 3 days i worked anyway...why not make more money for it?

Re: Feeling guilty, husband and kid at home

I am currently in Rhode Island and my husband and two children are in Alabama. The money here was just too good to pass up, but I am very homesick. I leave here November 20th. Our solution, hopefully, will be homeschooling our girls. My husband is already a stay at home dad. I few legal issues to work out with my exhusband and we are a traveling family. I keep busy sightseeing on my days off, and when I have been in the south a block schedule works for me!!!
