Dialysis Travel Companies Ok.. some of you know I have a big mouth..For those who don't BEWARE...Here goes. I have been in contact with a recruiter at Magic Corps. I don't see this company listed in the review section here so I post here for fellow dialysis nurses. Beware... one of their recruiters who has called me a liar..Now I may not be perfect but I don't lie about my travel experiences, money, or assignments. I lie about my weight but if you see me and I say I weigh 120 and you can't figure out that's a lie wellllllllll what can I say. I want to warn others about Magic Corps and the disrespect I recieved from this company. I was told by this recruiter that dialysis is not a narrow speciality.. Ok now let's analyze this.. I am a M/S nurse too. Well I was. I can do M/S, float to ER, start IV's there do vitals etc. I can't read an EKG . I know when they aren't right but that's about it...I can float to ACU,OB not delivery, peds and that's about it.. Can an ICU nurse do hemodialysis NO .. Can an ER nurse do hemodialysis NO.. So it is a narrow speciality. Thanks I am down now.. WR,,, three commas for Becca

Re: Dialysis Travel Companies i am going to add to this beware list Arcadia in Cincinnati is strictly dialysis... 1. you pay for your own drug test ($38) 2. you pay for your own criminal background check ($4) 3. you pay for your own physical ($15-200) 4. orientation is voluntary...no pay AT ALL (-$360) 5. there is no direct deposit for paychecks UNLESS you happen to bank at the same bank the secretary does...then she'll make a deposit for you if you give her pre-filled out deposit slips...(i SERIOUSLY question this practice) 6. the ONE and ONLY day of orientation i had, i was told i had to fax to the agency a copy of the pt's runsheets?!?!? (i SERIOUSLY question this also...HIPAA?!?!?) (liability $3,000,000) 7. shifts and cancellations are "spread out" across the board... if a facility cancels "nurse A", and "nurse A" has already had a cancellation that week, then they will cancel "nurse B" at another facility and send "nurse A" to the other facility. if they are contracted for "only" 20 shifts in a given week and they may have 7 full time nurses, the 20 shifts are divided as equally as possible i.e. 6 nurses will get 3 shifts each and the 7th nurse will get 2 shifts...?!?!? oh, and i forgot to mention the "teacher's pet" factor... ($36/hr for every shift worked, -$36/hr for every cancellation) 8. every other agency in town will let you fax in your time slips for pay, and some (not all) may require that you later send the original... not this agency... if you dont send the whole original time slip, you dont get paid, period. and in this day and age of mailbox raiding and identity theft, they will kindly mail you your check...after you've mailed them you're time slip WITH YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ON IT 9. and i have it on VERY good information from a current employee that if you work for another specific agency in town, you WILL NOT be given shifts at this agency... and i do work for that other agency...(which pays $41-48/hr!!!)

Re: Dialysis Travel Companies This is my fifth contract with Foundation and I have to say they let me down this time around. My recruiter was fine but as far as the travel department (the ones that book hotels, etc) was a joke. I was shocked and very disappointed with the accomodations they provided me for my first night on this contract. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I mean they only charged 50 a night so that in itself tells you what kind of hotel it is. The rooms were run down and the cable was out. Also there were flies in the room so I slept with the covers over my head. When I got to my job the next morning, the techs and nurses told me that the hotel was supposed to be torn down. Now let me rant a little about the housing department. I have told my recruiter (which he swears he passed it along to the housing department) that PLEASE limit the steps I have in the house. My last assignment with them, I hurt my foot and my knees aren't the best in the world. So when I arrived at my townhouse (which I did agree on) there were so many steps going up to the townhouse that I thought I would have a stroke before I got in the door. I did let my recruiter have it and told him that I will have to really think hard about traveling with them again because it seems no one listens to your requests. I don't ask for much as far as housing goes except for them to put the tv in the bedroom and no steps. Well they got the tv right. The housewares aren't that great either. Chipped plates aqnd minor stuff like that. It my feelings that if they earn money off my hours I work, then they should try and accomodate the little request we ask for. I have traveled with one other company and the accomodations was excellent and they even paid for cable!!! That's a biggie with me, but unfortunately Foundation doesn't provide that for their travelers. Kelly Last edited by iddles; 09-16-2008 at 06:25 PM. Reason: add something
