i know this is gonna get some gripe from people
but....
if you ask for time off during your contract you are rolling the dice
some places are really good about it
meeting your contract needs and all
but lets not forget
your are a contract worker
they are paying absurd amounts of money an hour for you so they have a body to fill the schedule
what they hell good are you if ya take time off when they need a body
i know i know people have lives and you are moving into there hospital to help them out and all
which is very true
but come on look at it from their perspective a little
we got a travel couple here at the hospital i work at
always want to go home early
always want days off here and there
they are just adding to the schedule problem when they were brought in to try and relieve some of the stress in filling out the schedule
if i was you i would not take time off during a contract and if you have to
take off the whole week instead of a day or 2 and just add a week to your contract
example 1 week off in the middle but make your contract a 14 week instead of a 13 week
also remind the charge nurse and anyone else in administration/management that looks at scheduling EARLY, VERY EARLY
and be nice about it
if you come off pushy they are gonna screw you one way or another
