Hi, What states are you licensed in? If you are from the southeast, you may have to become licensed in a west state, for example to be able to pick up work in a state that needs more nurses.
I am signed up with 4 different companies.Having trouble getting that first assignment. I am a retired nurse of 25 yrs. ,the last 5yrs in a general OR in a major trauma center.I have been retired for only 1 yr,have current bcls, acls.Any advice?

i have a license in alabama, minnesota, have sent in my paperwork for california but I know that takes a while, will be working on washington state next.
Hi, I would also try New Mexico and Arizona...these states along with CA have a lot of assignments and try to apply for an assignment in these states first and have the travel nurse co help you pay for the licensing!
I am from Alabama and the travel assignment in the southeast are few and far between and for the most part do not pay well. I am in Rhode Island just to get a decent pay, but miss being close to home. Since Alabama is not in the nurse compact, we have to get licenses in every state. Just be aware that they can be expensive if your company doesn't reimburse and then there is renewal. Good luck to you.
