California RN travel jobs- need info

I'm new to travel nursing, just got done with 1 assignment and about to start another in Florida in January. I would be finishing up in March and am looking to travel to California for my next assignment. I was wondering if anyone could give me ideas of the hourly rate and stipends for north vs south California. I got a call from American Mobile just saying there was a job at UCLA for 40/hr but I'm already learning that the quoted rates and the contract rates are different.
I will be traveling with my wife and infant and I carry my own benefits anyways since they all charge an arm and a leg to add a family.
Any info would be greatly appreciated on areas, pay, housing or just anyone who has experience out there. Thanks for any info.

In CA, northern Cali tends to pay more than Southern Cali. With pay rates, some companies will quote you a "blended" rate rather than a flat rate. In CA, anything over 8 hours is overtime, so for a 12 hour shift, you last 4 hours are time-and-a-half. A "blended" rate is just that OT averaged out over the 12 hours, so make sure you are comparing apples to apples when comparing pay rates.
