Short notice, but you all know how traveling is - everything moves quickly! Has anyone out there worked at the Wasco State Prison in Bakersfield? If mso, tell me about the facility...Anyone who has worked or been in or near Bakersfield, any info on the area would be great. The internet is a wonderful resource, but word of mouth is always better!!

What would you like to know about Bakersfield? It's a big city. Centrally located. Drive 2 hrs in any direction you'll either be in the mountains, the desert, or the Beach I live in Tehachapi and drive to Bakersfield for work and shopping. It's a big city and there are six different hospitals all within 30 min. of each other, pretty much. I am currently at mercy Truxton ER. My first night, my first impression: I like the crew, very supportive and very experienced...they are just real good people to work with.
Is it a busy place? Do they push patient's through? Absolutely, like any other hospital. People should remember that when they take a nursing job: it's a business, a busy one at that. Just savor those days off!

I am headed to Bakersfield in 4 weeks, all the way from Alabama! We shall see...
