    Uniforms

Hey im in my second semester or nursing school and we are just getting into our clinicals and what not and are being required to wear nursing shoes (more specifically all white ones) and they cant be tennis shoes. If anyone has any suggestions of where to look because everything that i have found looks pretty feminine. Ive looked at all my local stores at both home and school and on the internet. Any suggestions are greatly apprecatiated.

    Thanks
    Nate

    Re: Uniforms

Hi N8 welcome to the forums. Sorry I can't help you. I've worn nothing but athletic shoes for the last 20 years or so. I particularlly like the Reebok Exofit. Plain, white and good arch support. White shoes in general are all pretty gay. I've taken to wearing black Nikes with dark blue scrubs. The boss hasn't said anything so I guess it's OK. The only place I can think of that might have a selection to choose from are the uniform stores. Good luck.

allheart.com has shoes to order online. I've gotten their cheap clogs that feel good on until I stand for 12 hours 5 days in a row I also wear Reeboks most of the time but have worn Nikes also but all white.

    Shoes Blues

I wear a pair of K-Swiss all white shoes that have red lining. We wear red scrubs (yes, RED, not maroon) and white shoes. I also tried Dansko shoes and they're extremely comfortable, but expensive. You might want to check out a shoe store that sells shoes for hiking and walking on trails.

    Uniforms

    N8,

I work in an E.R. and I would not step foot in the Hosp. without my Dansko Clogs. However, some nursing schools do not allow clogs, but these do have a full back on them, i've lost to many backless clogs running to codes (eww!)
But ask your Dean of Nursing what there policy is. Also scheck with them about colors and specific styles of uniforms you must have, sometimes they have made arangements with a local uniform store on what you absolutely need. Hope this helps. Any questions e-mail direct jslater@wyan.org

    Guard those footsies!

Been on my feet a lot of years now and wear almost exclusively "New Balance" with "Adsorb" really takes the shock off my flat feet. When I can find some that are mostly white. FWIW, shoes are really a personal choice based on comfort and fit. Times were when I couldn't find a decent white pair of anything so I went to my supervisor and kicked up a fuss. I won and got to wear Redwings and military style oxfords. I still think shiny black shoes with a white uniform look sharp! They also don't show the crud you've gotten on them! Look in almost any uniform catalog and try and find some decent white shoes other than athletic types. I haven't been able to find much.

I tried every type of shoe on the market - Reebok are the best can work 16 hours without foot pain while wearing them.

    Thumbs up J. Rubio Clogs

I have tried so many brands and now I don't even look for another. I love my J. Ruibo clogs with the funky spring in the heel. I used to have to beg someone to bring them back from Europe for me, now I can order online. They're so comfortable and absorb all the shock and much cheaper and easier to look at than z coils. You can get them at: www.jrubio.us

    Protect your feet, good luck!
