American Samoa traveling RN positions in?

I have some questions regarding traveling positions in the American Samoa. Has anyone worked there as a traveler or no anything about work conditiond, demand, etc... I have been unable to find much info on the net except for the territorial board of nursing contact info. I think that it would be cool to live in the USA's most far-flung territory
(and I think only populated piece of US soil south of the equator). A friend of mines dad lived in Pago Pago so got to visit him every summer and described it as paradise. However the reality for a traveling nurse may be different. While were on the subject, has anyone worked as a traveler in other US territories such as: Guam, Peurto Rico, Northern Marianas, US Virgin Islands. Thanks! any info appreciated.

Re: American Samoa traveling RN positions in?

I found some descent websites with some descent general info about American Samoa:

http://www.samoanet.com/ - Has some picks around main island of Tutuila including LBJ Tropical Med Center.

Still cant find out much about nursing there, though.

Re: American Samoa traveling RN positions in?

I worked in Saipan (the CNMI) for 3 yrs full time, but not as a traveler. The nurses are hired through the government system only. Guam may hire travelers. A person can't beat the weather if you like warm humid environments. Its actually been a highlight of my life despite things not operating like you think they should.

American Samoa probably doesn't pay too much since their minimum wage is under $3/hr. I believe it was $1.65/hr. Its so close to the asian continent that competition with the other countries creates a lower wage.
