JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school required. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred.
Experience: Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting program or 3 years recent (within the past 5 years) clinical experience in a physician's office with medication administration/injection experience required.
License:Certification through the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assisting) preferred.
Other: Medical terminology, communication skills and basic knowledge of computers required.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in all aspects of medical practice under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician.

This position is responsible for patient safety, performing phlebotomy, Point of Care testing, assisting in minor procedures, processing lab specimens and the safe operation of medical equipment.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for handling and administering all medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policy and procedure.

This position is responsible for the collection, communication and documentation of accurate patient information/data and maintaining medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures.

The Medical Assistant performs phone triage of patient questions/concerns using physician protocols to determine the level of physician response required.

Other responsibilities include reviewing incoming test reports, maintaining test result logs, scheduling referral appointments, outpatient tests and arranging for admissions as directed.

This position provides patient education as directed by the physician.

Other responsibilities include maintaining the pharmacy line and coordinating requests for prescriptions and refills, also maintaining and preparing patient care areas to ensure efficient, effective and safe patient care delivery.
