There seems to be a lot of info from travelers here, and many travelers. I hope they can lend you sound advice and clam any worries.

Hi, I have been a RN for 1 year and a CNA for 4 years at the same hospital. I work in a small community hospital on a med/surg floor and love it. Recently I began looking for a travel job, but now I'm getting a little nervous from hearing horror stories.

Hello and welcome!
ER-RN
It is alright to get tired, but, never give up."
Proud Grancama!
Hi! I will be new to travelling (RN x 17 years) and looking forward to it all, despite the horror stories I hear. I just wish the damn agencies would call me back. Looking to start travelling in October.
Just take what you need from those horror stories and learn from them. I love being a travel nurse. It is what you make of it. Definately work with more than one agency. I have some horror stories of my own, but that doesn't mean I won't do it again!
I am also a traveler and absolutely love it. I have been traveling for about a year and a half and am still looking for the agency that suits me. I too have some horror stories but I look at them as lessons learned and move on. It is important to use more than one agency when looking. If they know you are using more than one, they have a tendancy to work a little harder for you.
Good luck in your endeavors.
Hi, I'm not a travel nurse, one of the RPN's i used to work with, and also went back to school to become an RN, is a travel nurse and loves it. My only thought on the subject is like any thing else, you listen to what people say, put it in the back of the brain, and wait and make up your own mind. Everyone has different experiences, and brings different feelings so what works or doesn;t work for someone else, may be just fine for you. Just keep an open mind.
WEll, to let everyone know........I really wanted to work with an agency, coz I figured I'd get the benefits, etc. But, they just weren't fast enough, and frankly, I think many exaggerated their available assignments for the Ft. Myers Florida area. So, I contracted on my own and the hospital will pay housing!!! YES!!! I'm very excited. I hope the travel agencies will work for me when I need them in the summer when I'm off from Ft Myers. For now, things are looking UP!
My mom did travel nursing and absolutely loved it, I guess you just have to choose an agency that fits your needs and will take you where you want to go.
