travel nursing in the south really that bad?

attention all you recruiters that have positions in nashville, Tennessee and in Atlanta georgia, both of which are areas I would like to travel to after my california assignment is over, but my recruiter says i better stay here in CA because the economy is so bad there! Is this true? or is she trying to get me to sign on so she can get the money?

My family is back in the south and and i really don't want to move them to california, but i will if i have to, espeically if it means a difference of $1000 a week. that is what I will take as a cut in pay moving back to the south from california.

Please nurses and/or recruiteres get back with me regarding these questions.

and if any recruiter out there has a job in nashville or atlanta where I can work 48 hours a week and make $1600-$1700 net pay and yes, that is after taxes and housing.

    thanks ya'll

I don't know about the south specifically, but overall the jobs are down due to the economy, if you have somewhere lined up and like the company I would work one assignment where you don't want to until the economy turns around, which for travel nurses should be soon.

Hi MN1: If you are offered an extension..Go for it , however i am hearing that Ca hospital will be hit hard in the next few months because of their budget deficits....Very difficult getting nurses into assignmetns right now.. Many hospitals are in hiring freezes..I have a feeling you will be hearing about a lot of Nurse staffing agencies going under as well within the next few months.....
