How would I successfully coordinate travelling for a whole year?

I plan on travelling as soon as I am able, and from what I read in the forums, it would seem that travel nursing requires a lot of time to organize an assignment.

Ideally, I would like to travel continually for a year/18 months with short spells (maybe 4-6 weeks) between assignments at home.

I am not that picky about where I would go, but of course I will be looking for quality assignments... I am not looking to get 'stuck' with assignments in areas/institutions where nobody else wants to go. I am open to 4, 8, or 13+ week long assignments.

So my question is simple; how can one successfully organize back-to-back travel assignments like this? Among other timing considerations, I know licences etc require time to get from state to state. Are enough assignments even available in this economy to make travelling my sole career for 18 months?

FYI: ICU would be my specialty and I may wish to bring my meduim sized dog along with me.

    I would appreciate any/all information.

Hey, Ive been traveling for a couple years now and havent had a problem booking my assignments back to back (with a couple of weeks off in between or course) Im in labor and delivery but I see posting for ICU everywhere so you definitely shouldnt have a problem getting a job. Just 4-6 weeks before your current assignment is up begin looking and feeling out places where you would want to go next and you can stay consistantly working travel assignments for the whole year.:cool-nurse:
