Hi i am new, wondering which route to take. Would like to hear the pros and cons of each if possible. Thanks.
Well, it all depends on whether or not you are deciding on moving on to your RN, and what specialty you will choose.
Flight/Trauma Nurse
RN, B.S.N., CCRN, ccNREMT-P, FP-C,
B.S. NeuroScience, M.S.N.(ACNP/FNP) Student
ACLS, PALS, NRP, PHTLS, and all the other $2 titles
When in doubt, I'd go for the licensed position. One that will take you to any state in the US, open up doors available only to nurses and provide reliable employment you can always fall back on.
You can find more info on LPNs in, http://www.nursefriendly.com/lpn or http://www.nursefriendly.com/rn for Registered Nurses.
Surgical tech is probably less time in school and cheaper. It will probably also limit employment possibilities to hospitals, surgical centers.
Which to choose depends on your financial situation and how much time you've got to spend in school.
Best wishes for a great 2009!
