travel contract

I have a question. If you agree to take a contract that doesnt start until 3-4 weeks...do you have to pay a penalty if you cancell it out within that waiting period?

Please help. any input is really appreciated.

If you have not signed the contract you are ok. But, the company will give you grief, but they do not have a leg to stand on. They may not allow you to work for them again.
Lot's of travelers have changed their minds. I've done that and called the nurse manager at the hospital and the travel company too. Just let the company know ASAP,so they can let the hospital know and find another travler. DON"T MAKE THIS A BIG DEAL

ok...thank you so much. it's only gonna be my 2nd assignment so im still finding my ways around.

Has anybody worked at St Louis, MO? the assignment there sounds like a better fir for me but we're worried about the place itself. Christian hospital in St Louis is where it'll be and it's in north part of town.

I have never worked in St. Louis, but I do know that the North side of town is the worst- highest crime, etc. If you are going to work there, you might consider asking your company to house you a little further away from the hospital.....

yea that will work. thank you so much. have you guys ever tried staying at extended stays? my priority right now is saving as much money as i can and if i take the company's housing, it's 1600/month, im thinking that if i get my own, it'll be cheaper.

Extended Stay isn't a bad option, if you don't mind staying in a hotel room for 3 months... The average price for 3 months at Extended Stay America is about $3,000, but remember that doesn't include taxes, so you might end up paying another few hundred in taxes and fees. If you are getting 1600/month for a housing stipend, that would allow you to pocket about $1500 over the course of a 3 month assignment. Just make sure the place you choose doesn't charge extra for parking- $10 a day for parking can be a killer!
