My wife and I are currently considering a travel assignment here. She is a CVICU nurse, myself a Trauma nurse. This will be our first travel assignment. I have read some comments about the hospital before the name change. Seeking current comments. We're obviously hoping for a good "first" experince.

You do mean Renown in Reno, NV correct? If so I went to school at TMCC and did all my clinicals at Renown (AKA Washoe Medical Center). Reno is a great little town with a lot of things to do. Renown is THE Level One trauma center for northern Nevada and you will see a great diversity of patients there. Anybody can do a 13 week assignment anywhere that isn't completely obnoxious (I even survived Bakersfield, yuk!) and Renown/Reno isn't. I think you and your wife would really enjoy your assignment.
I hope you have not considered Renamed hospital. My wife works there and it is a horrible place to work the staff (RNs) are treated absolutly horrible. The management does not care one bit about the nurses. I have to tell my wife to not tell me what goes on there because it gets me so worked up. Unfortunatly, there is hardly anywhere to work in reno. There is only 3 hospitals to choose from and none of them are any good. Knowing many nurses who have quit or got fired from there i would not risk it. They would even go as far as to backstab:bop: you and try to go after your nursing lic. Some if the recent rns being fired for no reason ( Renown went so far as to make up lies about these people). Reason, because they had almost enough time in (30) yrs, to wheres there insurance would have to be paid for and they could hire new grads for much cheeper. When the hospital was named Washoe Med. it was actually a nice place, they didn't want to sound like a county hospital anymore. The union there is also a joke i think they are to in kahoots with that place. To make a long story short I would not risk working there. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. I will tell you the honest truth.
