Thread: Hello everybody!

    Hello everybody!

Hi there, quick intro for myself.

I am 36 year old nursing student, getting back into the swing of things after being out of school for a while. I have always had an interest in the medical field, got my first crack at it when I joined the Army and became a "Combat Medical Specialist" as they called it then. (Hence my user name, 91 Bravo was the MOS designation at the time, think it is a 91 Whiskey now.)

I am looking forward to getting into the classes and clinical setting. I have but one last class to finish before getting into the "core" nursing classes and get back on the proverbial horse.

Looking forward to talking with folks here, seems like there is alot of great info on the forums!

    Cheers,
    Steve

    Hello Steve,
Nice to meet you! My wife & I was in Austin while I was on R&R from Iraq back in December. In fact, I think of Austin as home; grade school, jr. high, high school, and two degrees from ACC [Surg Tech & ADN]. However, I did the UTMB, Galveston School of Nursing RN-BSN program.

Are you planning on going to ACC's ADN program? Great program! BTW, thank you for your military service. The Combat Medic MOS is now 68W. I'm a 66H8A, critical care RN, CPT, active duty PCS at MAMC, FT Lewis but PROFIS to 31st CSH out of FT Bliss, and deployed to Iraq.

    Re: Hello everybody!

Steve, welcome! I too thank you and am a part of the military family as well. My son deploys again in a month to the gulf. We have a long family history of service......the military is family to us. God Speed.

Hey Mac, how about sharing with the rest of us what your military lingo is? It's a little frustrating to read something on this board and not have a clue what it means. Kind of like our patients c/o about us when we use medical terminology. Just a thought, maybe then you would get more feedback ie questions, remarks re your service. Unless, that is how you want it. Now, people can tell by your avatar you are in Iraq though. Thats a great improvement!

Hey, Steve; nice to meet you! Hope you stop by as often as possible and keep us updated on school. How long on the clinical bit?

    Levita,

Who is Mac? Maybe you are meaning Mag, short for MagRedC5? I'm pretty sure 91B, an AMEDD veteran understood MY welcome to HIM.

Regards to my great avatar improvement...

OK MAG REDC5...............you are loud and clear. Obviously Army speak to Army speak understands each other. Thats ok, just don't assume again and things will be cool. Stay safe.

    Re: Hello everybody!

Back off, Levita. I haven't been in the Army for over 18 years, and it was pretty obvious to me where Mag is. This is getting pretty old and definitely unprofessional. Remember when you were little and were told "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything"? Same applies to supporting our Armed Forces.

If you can't stand behind our troops, then stand in front of them!

Ok, almost an hour has passed and I thought I should edit this to add:
This forum is supposed to be a place we can discuss professional matters and be supportive of one another as nurses. At least that's what I thought. There seems to be a lot of bickering going on in different threads lately, and it is very disheartening. Regardless of our personal feelings about politics, the war, religion or whatever, there are other forums dedicated to those subjects. If we cannot support one another as nurses in this forum, where can we do it? Please let me know, and I'll join that forum.

    Re: Hello everybody!

Ok, locking this one up- apologize to the OP, but others have gotten out of hand here with their back-and-forth bickering.

To all involved- this is your warning- if you continue to go back and forth like this on other threads, the offenders will be banned....
