In Italy there're lots of doctors (too many...) and really very few nurses...
Especially in the north part of Italy (like Milano for example) more and more nurses are coming from Latin America countries or from the old Eastern Europe... That's why we have a kind of low profile nurse assistant, it's not a nurse, just an operator. They are basically in charge of patients' hygiene and act under nurse's responsability.
