blended rates in CA - please clarify

what is with the blended rates in CA? i have been told by every recruiter that in CA we get paid time and half for any hours past 8 hrs in a day. my recruiter has told me this several times. now that she sent me the contract, it's not on there and she says that not every hospital offers it. i thought it was the law.

and if it's not the law, i still know she mentioned it to me, but she denies it. i have it written down in 2 places in my notes from speaking with her. it feels like a bait and switch and i'm very concerned. i went with this company because i heard/read good things about them.

i am halfway through packing up and preparing to drive cross country for this position.

can someone please clarify things for me?

    thanks,
    karen

Do NOT sign the contract- it IS the law in California that you receive time-an-a-half for any hours worked over 8. The blended rate is just the 8 hours of regular pay and the 4 hours of OT averaged out over the 12 hours...

If your recruiter told you one thing, and it states another in your contract, then don't sign it- make them change it or tell them the deal's OFF, and find another company...

What company are you dealing with???

    Cougar,

There are situtions where there is not over time after 8 hr shift. Forgot the specifics. PanTravelers - Home has an article on their paid membership about it. It was public at one point but the key is to alaways ask your Travel Agency and that it is in the contract written clearly.
