Greetings,
My name is Tom. Currently residing in Wisconsin and taking my ADN. Finished with my first semester of prereqs and starting the second in a few weeks. Taking my CNA this semester as it is required to officially be on the "waiting list" for the ADN program. My goal is to finish my ADN, then possibly work to get my BSN while working in a hospital setting for a year or two, then on to my dream of travel nursing. i want to travel and go everywhere! Wish me luck!

:60: Welcome to the site and good luck in school.

Hey, Tom! Welcome to the site!
It seems like becoming a CNA before becoming a student nurse/clinicals is more and more prevelant these days. It's give you some idea of how things are 'on the ground floor' so to speak.
And as for being a male nurse? I am all for it, and I give you credit. Keep us posted on how things go.
Stop by often, hear?

Actually, at my school, it is required you have taken and passed the CNA before even being accepted into the nursing program classes.

Like I said, that is more and more prevelant nowadays. Of course, if you're an old timer like a few of us (who were LPN's before), that sorta gets pushed to the side.
CNA was not required at my nursing program. However, I was a full-time scrub tech (Certified Surgical Tech, AAS Surgical Technology) and was called at work informed I was accepted into nursing program. Point being whether required or not having healthcare experience prior to nursing program is very helpful.
BTW, if ever considering taking care of the best deserved patients in the world let me know. ;-D
