Hello everyone. Looking forward to making a few friends here. Nine years in acute care Pediatrics, One year in long term care. Married 18 years 5 kids at home(this attests to my sanity, or lack thereof). Been a rough year for me, but keeping my head up.(Have a few posts in "Nurses in recovery") "LAUGHTER IS THE SUN THAT DRIVES WINTER FROM THE HUMAN FACE" Have a Good Day!

Thanks NavyJim, Believe me not everybody in this field agrees with your second chance ideals, but it means a great deal to me. I know we all make mistakes, but if I didn't have such a great love for our work I'd probably move on- But I do feel I still have a great deal to offer. Are you a veteran? Or is your username a "nickname"? I grew up a Navy Brat. Dad did 20 years and 2 tours in Vietnam.

I'm still in the Navy......I don't suppose your Dad was a navy nurse?

Thumbs up Re: New From Pacific NW

My dad was an aviation structural mechanic, hydraulic specialist. He retires in 1973 at 37 YO. He still misses the Navy way of life. But, has never missed the cruises or being away from the family. He said if he had to do it all over he would definetely consider being a nurse. By the way, thanks for your service.

Welcome to the site, Comeback! Glad to have you with us. I hope you drop by often....you sound like you're pretty sane, IMO.

BTW....my paternal uncle did 20 years in the Navy; had been in a little over 2 when Pearl got hit.

Of course you still have a lot to offer. Whatever you're going through now doesn't negate your education and experience. Good luck!! Keep us posted - you can get a lot of support here.
