The Clinical Educator will be working with a unit where the typical patients include post open heart surgery, IABP, status post cardiac arrest patients. The unit has 36 beds, including 12 cardiac, 16 med/surg and neuro, and eight ICU step-down. The nurse-to patient ratio is between 1:2 and 1:1 with an average daily census of 10.


ACLS and BLS certification are required and new-hire orientations are individualized. Shifts are booked through computerized self-scheduling with overtime/call availability. The salary range is $48,000 to $60,000 plus a sign on/relocation package of up to $13,000.







ICU Clinical Educator for Tucson Medical Center





GENERAL SUMMARY:



Provides ongoing orientation and professional development for all levels of personnel within a clinical department. Works in collaboration with other Clinical Educators in development and implementation of hospital-wide education programs.



PRIMARY DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



Subscribes to and upholds established standards of behavior.



Works collaboratively and supports efforts of other team members.



Supports quality improvement initiatives through team participation, data collection, process change implementations, and other activities.



Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times, including patient information, proprietary information and personnel information.



Adheres to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines.



Adheres to TMCH values of integrity, diversity, accountability, compassion, and teamwork.



Maintains records of training activities and employee progress; monitors effectiveness of programs.



Prepares, organizes, directs, conducts, and supervises programs for orientation, training and in-service education; ensures the educational needs of staff are identified and met. Acts as an education resource to nursing community and health care team.



Maintains computer-based tracking system and compiles required reports and records.



Develops unit competencies related to findings.



Coordinates classroom/meeting room facilities and instructional aids.
