This story puts me in mind of one of my all-time favorite patient scenarios; the OD who's been given activated charcoal with sorbitol. It's enough to deal with the behavior but add diarrhea to the mix and we really have a good time...

more then once I've eaten too many sugar free jelly beans or other candy talk about bad cramps. If you ever need cleaned out it's better then milk of mag. My son got into them once and ate too many...he'd been told not to eat them...he wasn't happy. Now he asks if everything is sugar free before he eats it LOL

Well, you did tell him, and he shoulda listened, eh? Now he knows better!
saw that as a lead in to last night's news and the first thing my wife said was, "I need to get some of that gum!"
There was no mention of diarrhea in the lead in though. Just chewing too much of one kind of gum can lead to extreme weight loss.
Fifty bucks says gum sales go up due to the news...for the same reason people buy Alli'.
It says if you take it, you'll crap yourself, but you'll be crapping out the fat you eat. People think hey, as long as I lose weight, and if flies off the shelf!

It's the Sorbitol. Need to keep drinking fluid......and no, I don't mean alcohol, either!![]()
