Hi everyone, I've tons of questions. I am so glad I've found this site. After I recently graduate from a CNA program with a 4.00 average. I have decide I like to further my education. I estimate it would cost me 6500 to go to this particular school, but I don't have enough money. I am going to get a Stafford loan, but it will only be about 3500. I am also getting a grant. A friend of mine told me she only received about 1200.00 dollars. I estimate I am 800 short. Plus, I have'nt count gas and all the little fees I have to pay. I hope
to work part time. I want to know if there are any other types of loans. I can get. I don't have very good credit.

Hi, anita, and welcome to the site! I hear you about the loans; if you work, perhaps they have a program where you would work for them in exchange for continuing your education? Or, perhaps a Nursing scholarship? Maybe your school has some information on that.

I paid for most of my education with student loans. The interest rates are low, and you don't have to start paying them back until after you are done with school. Remember that in addition to tuition, you will have to buy books, uniforms, and have reliable transportation to attend clinicals. In order to qualify for federal student loans, you need to fill out a FAFSA form. Contact your school's financial aid department, and they can help get you started.

do take the Stafford loan, but it will only amount to 3500 for the year.
What other loans does Fafsa have beside parent loan.

Have you checked into a work-study program at the school. The college will pay you to work part-time at the school while attending classes. Have you applied for a Pell Grant at the school? Have you tried borrowing money at a bank?

I have thought about borrowing the money from the bank,
but I was afraid that nursing school might be to difficult for
me to work and I would have know way to pay the monthly payments.
I am already working fulltime. Once I start nursling school. I
will only be able to work parttime. A friend told me I could
probably work partime for an hospice.

I didn't have to pay back any of my student loans until 6 months after I graduated. Most student loans, even those from banks, will defer payments until after you graduate.

I have found several private online loans that will lend money to student who don't
have good credit. I am a little nervous about using the online loans. Has
anyone heard of Wachovia Individual Education Loan. I have some
money save. I am hoping to have enough with the Stafford loan and the grant.
