    RN Network or Fastaff?

    Hello Everyone,
I am a L&D nurse looking to travel this March. I recently spoke with a recruiter from Fastaff who appears to be very knowlegable. I also had the pleasure of working with several Fastaff nurses this summer, which had nothing but good things to say about the company. Number 1 THE PAY!!! I know it is still very early, but what concerns me is there doesn't seem to be alot of jobs for labor and delivery nurses at this time. I'm excited an extremely nervous at the same time. Finally I'm ready to do somehing that I've waited 3 yrs to do and the thought that there may not be jobs where I want to be worries me.

I aslo spoke to a recuiter from Rn Network today by the name of Erin. I did not find him to be very helpful at all. He did tell me that this time of the year is very slow due to hospials being at the end of their budget year. So therefore there is not much many out there to pay travelers. He said aronund Feb or Mar. business will start to pick back up as usual.

Does anyone have any advice. I don't know if I should forget about the idea all together or see what happens when I start applying in Feb.
Thank you all for your many post.

Hello fellow L&D nurse. The market is a little slow right now, it's actually "off season" (if there is such a thing) for L&D. I am also looking. The more flexible you are with where you are willing to go, the easier it will be to find something suitable. Whatever you do, don't give up. Put in you application with numerous companies, compare packages, locations...

    MSN/Intelistaf
love my recruiter, Carrie BUT being in Cali, I was offered a better compensation package by another company. Fearful of making a change, I stuck with Intelistaf and my compensation is not much more than what I was making in Md. It just always seems that no matter how they break it down, I end up making about the same. Some other travelers that I talk with are doing better with their take home. I did some work with a local company, Chesapeake Medical staffing out of Baltimore, and it was pretty sweet. Only problem is they don't do housing allowance. It's a fixed rate with shift differentials. What that means is I pay more taxes. Advantage was that they always had work for me, even OTat the higher hourly wage.

Sign on with both companies and play the field. I heard good things about Fastaff from travel nurses I've met on the road and I did 2 assignments with RNNETWORK, and they were good but don't seem aggressive in getting new contracts. I would ask for a new recruiter at RNNETWORK, The recruiter is key in your assignment.
It may be wise of you to have more than one company for job opportunites.
