Glad to have you with us, Dianne! I hope you drop by often, also.
Hello everyone!
My name is Dianne and I am a 46 yo pre-nursing student. I have finished all my pre-reqs and will be taking the PSB-NAT this week then applying for summer start of nursing school.
My history is BE-EE in 1984 (that's bachelors of engineering - electrical engineering) followed by 3 yrs in the USAF as a Satellite Ops Officer. I continued that career for a time and finally got into programming mainframe computers - which I have been doing for the past 16 yrs. The down side to that is layoffs ever 2 - 3 yrs! I am done with this so I am going to finish a nursing degree, get my RN then an MSN.
My father is a USAF retiree. Hubby is SCANG (South Carolina Army National Guard) AGR (Active Guard Reserve) Master Gunner. DD is a Combat Medic coming home from the sand box at the end of Jan.
I have 4 more natural children and 4 step children! Of the 9 kids, 6 are adults and the remaining 3 are 16 (on Jan 2), 15 and 12.
Aside from the military heritage, I also come from a family of nurses! My mother, sister and brother are all nurses. I am studying to become a nurse and my daughter will be finishing her nursing degree when she gets out 3 months after returning home.
I am glad to be a member of the forum and hope to have some great conversations with you all.

Glad to have you with us, Dianne! I hope you drop by often, also.

Hello Dianne,
Welcome to the forums, congratulations on deciding to go into Nursing! Be sure to check out the military forums on the site to touch base with other military families, nurses, etc.
Glad to hear you're carrying on the nursing tradition in your family, it is a noble one. It is also a profession that will serve you well the rest of your life.
I would apply to nursing school programs as soon as you can, as slots fill up quickly and waiting lists are starting to grow very long in parts of the country.
Sounds like holidays must get very busy at your home. Can't imagine having that many brothers, sisters to organize and get together with.
Hope your holidays were happy and safe!
Best wishes for a great 2009!
