****o! My name is Shante' and I am a sophmore nursing student at Hampton University. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice about employment throughout nursing schools. I am currently at home in Minnesota and alot of employers in general are not looking to hire temporary workers. Even though this doesnt discourage me, I am worried for the next few years of my life. My question is what should I do now, while I'm in college to increase my chances of success within the nursing profession? What type of jobs may look attractive to employers in the nursing profession?

Concentrate on studying, making good grades, and finishing your nursing program.Do not take on tomorrow's problem today.Look for job openings in the area you want to work when you graduate , if nothing turns up in your area probably you should think about getting a parttime job in another city; if not spend some time studying, and also relax! relax! God holds the future and will see you through if you let him; good luck.

Re: What to do.....? Did you consider working as a CNA at a nearby hospital or LTC facility? A lot of nursing students take that avenue for extra income as well as experience in the health care setting. You could probably find a part time position and most hospitals work around your school schedule. Good luck!
