    Help with the RN program

Hi my name is Judy and I live in california and I recently applied to RN programs at a couple CSU's but I didn't get into the RN program due to so much impaction in the schools. Now, I do not know what to do. I don't know what my options are anymore and what schools I should go to to get my RN. Do i start working my way up from a CNA to an LVN to an RN? I'm really confused.

Hi, Judy! There's nothing wrong with starting out as a CNA, then going on for your LPN and then RN. You do gain valuable training at each level, as well as earning a paycheck.

There is a teacher shortage, and that may be the reason there is a wait out where you live.

hi, im a nursing student and i just got in the program this fall... i guess what you could do for the meantime is to take subjects without restrictions... meaning if you are set to go to this particular school, obtain a curriculum for their nursing program, meet with a guidance counsellor and ask what subjects in the program you can take even though you havent been accepted yet.... thats what i did while waiting to be accepted..

and yeah, look into community colleges too.... godluck!

I agree with cooki3. The program I'm in has up to a five year wait. I got in after 3 years. I suggest taking the non-nursing courses and pre-reqs (micro, A&P, English, psychology, etc) while waiting. That way you only have program courses. Good Luck!

one more thing... in my community college, for this semester, they only admitted 60 out of 200+ applicants ... you have to be in-district and have a good GPA to get considered first before anybody else... its a tough competition out there... and also, take the non-nursing subjects and get it out of the way because once you're in, there's no other option but to get good grades coz its so easy to get a bad grade and get kicked out..then you willhave to apply again.... goodluck!
