Welcome! Can I suggest, you might want to change your username to something other than your e-mail address. Posting your e-mail address in a public forum leaves you open to all sorts of spammers....

    Hi, Shirley,
I've been a nurse since 1979 and started traveling in 2005. I love it. My kids are out of the house and my husband doesn't mind that I'm gone so much. I try to be home at least every other month for a while and home on holidays. Most places are willing to do this, since they have to pay travelers a lot to work the holidays! I'm a labor nurse, now working in Idaho. Do you need a good company to work for? I can recommend a couple if you like.

    :shades_smile:Hi Cheryl,
I have signed on with an angency but I don't know yet if it is the right thing. Iam by myself and I will be traveling with 4 dogs. Ought to be fun. I will have to close up the house. My children all live out in Seattle and Calif. Let me know who you travel with. Mine is Inteli Staff/ Medical Staffing Network they just merged. Do you know much about the health insurance?

    Hi, Shirley,
I also travel alone with no dogs. I travel with RN Network currently and have traveled with Travel Nurse Solutions, Cirrus, and Aureus in the past. I will only travel with the first 2 again. My next assignment will be in Rock Springs, WY. You should sign up with at least 2 different companies so that you can compare jobs and payrates. If you need to know my recruiters names, I would be happy to provide you with them. They have been great to work with. As far as the insurance goes, It pretty much just varies on how much you have to pay for it. I cover myself, my husband and my college daughter and RN network has the lowest rate that I have to pay out of pocket. As far as benefits, they're all about the same.

Darlin' I am sixty next month, just started traveling again, but have done it off and on since 86'. Love it, although 4 dogs may
be a problem. Most apts. have a 2 or 3 dog limit...One of my cohorts takes the housing allowance instead and finds her own place. Right not she is stuck in a motel for 13 weeks, cause she couldn't find any place to rent on a temp. basis that would take her 5 cats. LOL I find the insurance is fine, have used Cross Country, right now with HRN. Would not go back to CC, they have gotten so big they seem to lose track of details. Cost me a grand when they screwed up my last assignment with em.
HRN has been great, they work mostly west coast, can give you their recruiter if you want. Good luck and have fun.

Off the wall question, anyone heard of Nightingale -- they keep contacting me re signing up but no one seems to know anything about them.

I have not heard very good things about them. Housing isn't alwasy the greatest.
