Background check

Hello;
At the age of 40 I am considering attending nursing school. Here is my issue. In 2001 I received a dui and in 2003 I was charged with drug possession (felony). I was never officially convicted of either charge, but had to attend alcohol and drug conseling, perform community service, and was on probation for a period of time.

Here is my question. What are the true chances of my license application being accepted when I apply? I will be in school for 3 years to become an RN, and am afraid that I would be hitting the books, only to be told no way when I it comes time to take the test.

I've contacted the California Nursing Board and they did not provide any useful information, other than directing me to their website.

Any thoughts.

I AM NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO ATTENDING NURSING SCHOOL AT TSU, AND I AM OLDER. AMONG ALL OF THIS WRITING I AM JUST TRYING TO TELL YOU THAT NOTHING CAN STAND IN YOUR WAY IF YOU TRULY HAVE A PASSION FOR NURSING. To get the most accurate information to your question call the Board of Nursing in the state that you want to get a license and make sure there will be no issues. I know that they run FBI clearances that involve fingerprints to check if you have ever been convicted of a felony. Good Luck.
