Morning, all! It's Friday. Oh, I know it's also 9/11's anniversary, too. Not much in the paper about that.....

So, what's going on? Anything much? I seemed to sleep in a bit more than usual this morning, which kinda stank. Then again, I probably needed the sleep.

Coffee is calling.

Re: Friday, September 11th, 2009

Had a surprise call day today due to low census. As always, had plenty to catch up on.

The 9/11 anniversary always brings me up short but in a good way, I suppose. I'll be forever grateful for heroic sacrifices made in the air and on the ground. While truly terrible, this event managed to kindle a magnificent kinship in this country too. I only wish the patriotism and seas of American flags could be burned into memory and have the staying power of plane crashes and smoking buildings. We could really use that now.

Ricu, I guess many forgot the Pearl Harbor scenario, and were caught 'sleeping' 9 years ago.

Yeah, Americans have a tradition of feeling big and being comfortable. We were really caught sleeping twice. I suppose the 9/11 attack could in some ways be compared to Pearl Harbor. There aren't many left who lived through that horror and could tell first hand and books don't have the same impact. Sadly, a lot of people today wouldn't sit and listen to them either. Maybe this is why history repeats itself.
