Will I be able to get a job?

Hello, I am a nursing student and Im having anxiety over whether Im going to be able to find employment or not. I have 3 prior misdamenors, one thats a minor misdamenor for marijuana, one for receiving stolen property and one for drunk and disorderly(dont judge me please!). They are all awhile ago, two of them are 7 years ago and one is 5 years ago. I called the ohio board of nursing and talked to them and they dont see any reason why I wouldnt be able to get a nursing license because they are so far in the past and they arent any of the certain convictions that automatically bar you from even getting a license. Im worried about finding employemnt though. What could I do to maximise my chances at finding a job. I dont know what to do because nursing is very important to me but I screwed up a while ago and I cant take it back! Help!

Re: Will I be able to get a job?

Got licence, got job has been my expearence. My advice is to be up front about it don't lie about the convictions and if asked explain them as youthfull indescressions or a bad time in your life. I cannot stress enough DONT LIE. I handle applications for a local vounteer org and we will allow just about any prior conviction or charge but if someone isn't up front about It on the application the are out no it's ands or buts.

I totally agree with Big Al ... your wild past should not bother your sober present and bright future

Your past does not define your future! Good luck and keep us posted.

Biggest thing is to not lie, because that indicates to employers that something's trying to be hidden.

Supposedly 8 out of 10 people suffer from hemorrhoids. Does that mean that the other 2 people enjoy them???

I am convinced that certain college courses were invented to drive me to insanity. Luckily, it would be a short trip.

Some hospitals will not hire any one if they were arrested for whatever.
Have no idea why.. no one is perfect.....
