| Why Hello all! My name is Brendon Schweers, I am 16 years old and I live in Omaha, Nebraska. By now, you are all probably wondering why I am posting on these forums. Well, I am in Public Forum debate and right now, the resolution is "Resolved: That the US Government should provide Universal Health Care to all citizens." So here's the real reason why I am here. I am writing a case for an upcoming debate this weekend and I need some input from those in the medical field. The case is agreeing with the resolution, meaning I am pro-universal health care. Being that my mother is a nurse, I realize that you can't really tell me about individuals, but I was hoping that you could give me your opinion as to what is wrong with the health care system right now...government-wise. For example, someone provided this for me. Quote:
Thank you. ~Brendon Schweers | |

| Re: Why Hello all! How about people pay into insurance programs but if they go over the limit then they and maybe everyone in that group are dropped and the plan is canceled.... People don't seek preventive care because it's expensive then they need more expensive treatment.

| Re: Why Hello all! I think the Sicko thread had a number of points about this. IMO the government could pay for (not run) for basic primary care. Primary care is cheap and prevents people from getting sicker and costing more money. I would include a limited drug benefit for some DM, HTN, etc. generic meds. Look up articles from the Kaiser Family Foundation and Pricewaterhouse Coopers. |
