White Uniforms

I am collecting data for a research paper. I would like to know what you think. Should nurses go back to wearing white uniforms? Please explain your answer.

thank you

Re: White Uniforms

our hospital went back to white last year. I wear scrubs except to leave the unit where then I have to wear a white jacket. That jacket gets so dirty as I throw it across a chair then it gets rolled on on the floor. Regular unit nurses can wear a colored shirt but have to have on white pants and white jacket. Peds can still wear the print jackets. There are still people that think anyone entering their room is a nurse whether it's the secretary in navy or the housekeeper in cranberry even if told before who their nurse was.

Re: White Uniforms

For the purposes of identification, it would be an excellent idea for everyone to wear the same color. In some hospitals, they have a different color requirement for every unit.

You have to wonder if they're doing it purposely to make sure the patients have no idea who the hell the nurse is.

On the other hand, wearing individualized scrub, tops, etc gives a healthy boost to both a nurses self esteem and that reflects onto patients in a positive fashion.

It's an interesting topic.
