Re: White scrubs?

there are various weight fabrics and styles around. Go to a uniform shop and try them on...wear the underwear you'll wear with the scrubs...at my school they had a supplier we had to buy our stuff from the first year then they changed it the next year.

If you're wearing bright red underwear, chance are it will show up regardless of what brand white uniforms you are wearing. There's a discussion in the forums that deals with this issue.

It might give you some food for thought.

We didn't have a choice when I went to nursing school in 97, the had a supplier come in and had to buy this awful pink tweed style shirt white pants. . . talk about a monopoply. You had to wonder if the school was getting kickbacks. . .

Re: White scrubs?

I just graduated in December and we had to wear white pants and a blue top. Ironically, if you wear white underwear it does show through the pants. It is best to get underwear that are tan or skin colored. Those seemed to work for me.

Re: White scrubs?

Yes! Male or female the trick, to hiding under garments with white clothing is... DO NOT WEAR WHITE! If you are Caucasian, (light skinned)... Instead, wear flesh or beige color, if you are African American wear brown or a shade of brown closest to your natural skin color .. the idea is to have the garment blend with your natural skin tone. If you wear white it is doubled against the skin tone and stands out that much more dramatically. We have a guy in our program who recently found a pretty thick fabric scrub pants at Wal-mart. I used to teach dance, and our group wore white often ... we had them wear Land's End's drawstring elasticized waist poly cotton (poplin) pants. The quality was unsurpassed, thicker than the cheapies and held up to frequent washing .. they come one length and you get them hemmed...very nice product . I highly recommend.

I had to wear white scrubs when I was in school, and I agree with the others about the skin-colored underwear, also, because the white scrubs tend to show panty lines more, for women, I reccommend getting seamless underwear, or wearing boy-shorts- the seams won't show then.

Re: White scrubs?

You may want to try Barco scrubs. I order my scrubs through http://www.scrubsandstyle.com. They have a White Uniforms area that you may want to check out. Hope that helps!

Re: White scrubs?

Like everyone else, I had to wear white too, but wasn't limited to a provider. I went to a uniform shop and found pants that restaurant workers wear. They're unfortunately styled for men only, but heavy weight, no see- through, cotton/poly blend, fly front, with four pockets. Very professional looking. If I remember correctly, the manufacturer is Red Cap. I had two pairs of those pants and wore them well for about ten years. I would've gotten more but did find them hot most of the time and frankly, just got sick of white, too.

Re: White scrubs?

just a wee story along the topic lines...

when I first started my program, the girls in my class at that time didn't like the thought of wearing white scrubs due to underwear showing. Previously, the girls had to wear white bottoms and a navy blue top. The guys wore navy blue slacks and a white polo shirt. So they headed up a committee to get new uniform colors approved by our faculty.

By end of the year, after coming up with 3 options that wouldn't confuse us with other nursing schools, the girls in the class suddenly decided why make the change? our tops go low enough that it's not as big of a deal as they originally thought it would be.

Anyway, the uniform was eventually changed for everyone to wear red tops with navy bottoms.
